DARPA’s crowdsourced UAV competition in International Arena (10-20th May 2012)

Team Dhaksha the MIT, Anna University team wrapped up the DARPA’s crowdsourced UAV competition in International Arena (10-20th May 2012)

Team Dhaksha comprising of faculty, student and technical consultants from MIT campus, Anna University shortlisted out of 132 teams worldwide participated in the final leg of UAVForge, an international competition for unmanned air vehicles, held at Fort Stewart military base in Georgia, USA during 10-20th May 2012.

 

UAVForge is a Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), Department of Defense, USA and Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Atlantic (SSC Atlantic) – USA, collaborative initiative to design, build and manufacture advanced next generation small Unmanned Air Vehicle (UAV) systems.

 

In the challenge, the Indian entry, Team Dhaksha, after a series of rounds of short listing milestones was chosen to fly the flag for India, to compete in the final event alongside the other top 10 finalists from countries including USA, Singapore, Netherland, Canada and UK.

During the event at Fort Stewart Military base, Georgia, USA Team Dhaksha with its most serodynamically stable design amongst all the contestants, surprised the organizers by becoming the only team to complete the world’s toughest UAV challenge competing against some of the best engineers across the globe form prestigious institutions like Middlesex University,UK,NTU and NUS, Singapore, Tudelft Technical University, Netherlands and other UAV insustry / defense participants .
